November EOTR Update

November 5, 2008

This past Sunday, Becky and I had the pleasure of taking Jacob Atem and his friends to the Bethel Nazarene Chruch in Macomb Township. Jacob had been invited to speak for their Faith Promise event. It was a small church, but it was filled with the love of God and friendly people.

Jacob's talk was filled with passion. He challenged the people to think beyond themselves. He challenged them to join a global missions initiative. Jacob was challenging them to not only think and act locally, but also globally.

This Faith Promise event reminded me of where BCC (Our old church from Brighton) had started. I remember the passion for missions that was birthed in us so many years ago.

The Pastor and Missions director were very pleased that the congregation exceeded their goal of $21,000 for the annual pledge. Over $22,000 was raised and many people were not in attendance, so they were very happy.

Jacob and ministry was blessed with nearly $1,500 that will go towards the building of a medical clinic in Southern Sudan.

We Praise God for this church. We are blessed to have formed new relationships and we know that God's purposes are being fulfilled even now. The act of being yielded to God's purposes and calling is a wonderful thing.

Also note that we have added the ability to donate online via the website. You can give $20 or more via a Paypal transaction. If anyone tries this and has issues let me know. I hope I set it up correctly.

Thanks and God bless you.

I'll let Becky write next month so it will be more entertaining.

Your Servant and fellow Disciple of Christ,

Gary Gentry
